Under the Trees
Trees are beautiful, slow growing plants that have the potential to live for hundreds of years. ‘Under the Trees’ is a series of photographs that capture the intricate structures of tree branches in congruence with the sky. By photographing the trees from below I am able to isolate them from their environment, creating minimalistic compositions that are tranquil and relaxing. This makes it all the more special when birds and other wildlife appear in the frame, as it adds a lively nature to such a slow moving subject.
By angling the camera upwards towards the sky I attempt to alter the perspective of the trees, enlarging them in a way regular landscape photography often cannot. The primary themes revolve around the grand nature of trees, often being seen as pillars of wisdom, showcasing a subtle elegance that they exude when paired with the blue tones of the sky.
