Staring Into The Void

Oil on canvas, 32 x 40 inch

After painting ‘Warmth From Within’ this piece was a way for me to experiment with a similar mark making technique on a larger scale. I personally am not a fan of how I executed this, as I feel the purple to be slightly out of place and I think it distracts from the rest of the painting. I think if I were to use a more cool toned purple it would have been a lot more successful, as I find the top right corner way less distracting.
When painting this piece I noticed I had unintentionally painted a mark in the bottom left corner that, to me, looks like two frogs peering over at the warmer circle on the right. This is what inspired the title. I will likely rework this piece to feel more cohesive with the rest of my work.
