Plant Pots

The plant pots I make are inspired by rocks and stones. They are all hand built on a whirler, using a coil method to keep them sturdy and less prone to cracking in the kiln. I choose hand building over throwing on the wheel as I find I’m able to create more natural rock-like shapes, as opposed to the more uniform look wheel throwing tends to give.

All of my plant pots have feet to elevate them from the ground; this is partly for function and partly for design. The function is to allow excess water to spill from the drainage holes, without blockages and in terms of design the feet attempt to create more nuances within the forms, further emphasising the organic feeling of the piece.
