Messy Brain
Oil on canvas, 8 x 12 inch
This autobiographical portrait depicts the feeling of being overworked and overthinking. When painting this piece I was quite stressed about graduating, trying to figure out what I wanted to do after university. I used a combination of blue to highlight the negative emotions I feel towards graduating, contrasting the tan shade that represents the new opportunities that are to come. The etching was a physical way to release some of the frustration I had built up as a form of art therapy, which is why they are so chaotic and uncontrolled.
